New electricity safety measures start 1 September 2015
Suppliers and traders must ensure electrical goods being sold to the public are safe. An updated Regulation supporting the Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2004 commences on 1 September 2015.
- increases fines for traders who sell unsafe electrical appliances from $500 to $1000 for each item
- requires a copy of the Compliance Certificate to be given to consumers within 7 days of a safety and compliance test being completed
- has stronger measures to deter unsafe and unauthorised interference with electrical installations.

With more than 300,000 backyard swimming pools and spas across NSW, pool safety is imperative.
